Welcome to the website for the Joseph J. Hurley K-8 School's music classes for grades 3-7, taught by Mr. Thompson through the Community Music Center of Boston for school year 2010-2011. Here, parents can see and hear what is going on in music class weekly, and students can find video and audio files to supplement their learning outside of class. Instruction began the week of September 28th and continued through June 18. Our first concert took place on Friday, December 18, and our spring concert took place on Friday, June 4. Both were in the school auditorium.
The Hurley School music program is a collaboration between the Community Music Center of Boston, the Hurley School, and the Neighborhood Parents for the Hurley School.
NEWS FLASH: 12 students from the Hurley School were invited to join the Boston Children's Chorus for the 2010-2011 School Year.
NEWS FLASH: Fourth graders from Room 201, students of Ms. Clerkin and Profa Parker, performed at EdVestors' 8th Annual Urban Education Investment Showcase at the City Year headquarters on Wednesday morning, April 14th! They presented a short program of 3 songs for the showcase attendees, including funders of urban education programs like the Community Music Center of Boston School Outreach Program. This was a huge honor for these student and the Hurley School! VIEW THE VIDEO OF THIS EVENT.
